MF'ers JMB & Co.
Formed in the fall of 2023, this improvisational trio features the psychedelic sounds of the hurdy gurdy, a hand cranked string instrument that originated back in the 13th century. Geologist (Brian Weitz) of Animal Collective brings the magic of the hurdy gurdy with drums by Jim Thomson (formerly of The Alter Natives, GWAR, etc.) and bass/guitar by Marc Minsker.
Jim, Marc, and Brian make up JMB and Co., with the name of the band riffing on a 1972
recording made by the Krautrock group Xhol Caravan.

SIBERIAN MINE BLAST
A group of people came together at 227 Kalima Avenue during the summer of 1997 to perform free improvisational music at a local drummer's house. Rick Sutton, the drummer and the resident of 227 Kalmia, put together this trio with the goal of covering some obscure psychedelic rock tunes from Rick's vast record collection. He recruited Marc Minsker on guitar and Wurlitzer electronic piano. Rounding out the lineup was legendary bass guitarist of The Muffins, Billy Swann -- a prog-star bassist from one of the greatest American 'canterbury' groups of the 1970s.
SMB were together from 1997 until Minsker moved to Texas in December of 1999. During these years, they performed several times at Gallery 701 and Beulah's in Columbia, SC. Rick Sutton passed January 5, 2022 after a long battle with Parkinsons.

THIRD EYE LOUNGE
Formed in summer of 1991, Chris Nichols (drums) and Marc Minsker (guitar/organ) started as a high energy guitar/drums duo before moving into other realms upon acquiring a 1966 Kustom Combo organ. Primarily a duo, THIRD EYE LOUNGE collaborated with many bass players between the years of 1991 and 1996, including but not limited to Ray Craig, Buck Crosby, Heyward Coleman, and James Wallace. Frank Beylotte, Mike Cook, and Eugene Chadbourne were often collaborators with THIRD EYE LOUNGE, who broke up in 1996 when Minsker moved to Boone for graduate school and Nichols moved to Charleston, SC, soon after.
