This Saturday, Lost Treasures celebrates the every-four-year-magic of Leap Day, February 29th, with a curated show focusing on rare and obscure tracks from the formative leap years of 1964, 1968, 1972, and DJ Mackie will pull deep cuts from these special years, with tracks by The Surfaris, a young Frank Zappa, Stevie Wonder, Elmer Gantry’s Velvet Opera, and other magical groups. Tune in locally at 94.3 FM or streaming at takomaradio.org
In celebration of Black History Month, DJ Mackie will be digging deep and playing lost gems by African-American musicians from the dirty south. The playlist for this special LOST TREASURES episode will include obscure tracks from Abner Jay, Eddie Bo, Sister Morgan, and Boozoo Chavis (among others). For the purposes of this show, the “south” is anything south of Washington, DC and east of the Mississippi River.
