LOST TREASURES EPISODE #11
(archived recording here) As part of WOWDY Week (Takoma Radio’s fall fundraiser), DJ Mackie will be digging deep into musical lost treasures from the great state of Texas. Everything is BIG in Texas and we hope that this year’s fall fundraiser will also be BIG in terms of both donations and love for the station. Tune in at 9am on Saturday, October 27th to hear obscure ditties by lost Texas legends like The Chapparals from Houston and Roky Erickson’s first group The Spades plus the out-there sounds of Legendary Stardust Cowboy and Daniel Johnston, among others. The program will also explore the legacy of the International Artists record label and some of the important venues that brought back older musicians from an early time, like Mance Lipscomb and Lightning Hopkins: both influential Texas players. Let’s shoot out the lights! LOST TREASURES EPISODE #10 (archived recording here) DJ Mackie leaves no stone unturned in digging deep into the underground, beneath the surface of the known music industry recordings and getting to real people music! In his quest to find the best in obscure and lost recordings, this week DJ Mackie will be celebrating the sounds of Apple and the Three Oranges (L.A.), British renegade Rick Heyward, 70s sensations Silk & Silver, and the Muzzy Band, among others. Tune in Saturday morning at 9am for music that you won’t hear anywhere but on WOWD – or catch us via streaming at Takomaradio.org If you miss, you can always listen to archived LOST TREASURES at: https://takomaradio.org/shows/#/16573 Git on the good foot! And tune in… |
